Export volume increased by 9.3 per cent in October according to preliminary data
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by 9.0 per cent in October year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in October was EUR 6.9 billion. Export volume increased by 9.3 per cent and export prices declined by 0.2 per cent year-on-year.
The value of imports decreased by 1.0 per cent in October and was EUR 6.7 billion. Import prices declined by 1.3 per cent, but import volume increased by 2.0 per cent compared to October 2024.
In January-October 2025, the aggregated value of exports increased by 3.8 per cent, but the value of imports decreased by 0.1 per cent year-on-year. Change of export volume during the latest 12 months was +1.5 per cent (12 month moving average November 2024 – October 2025). The corresponding figure for import volume was +1.3 per cent.
The trade balance was in surplus of EUR 160 million in October. In January-October, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 165 million. In October 2024, the trade balance was EUR 478 million in deficit and in January-October of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 2.5 billion.
The volume of both intra-EU exports and external exports increased in October
Value of exports to EU member states increased by 0.2 per cent, and to non-EU countries by 22.8 per cent in October compared to the same month the previous year. The volume of exports to EU countries increased by 0.2 per cent, and to non-EU countries by 21.8 per cent during the same time.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, the value of exports to EU countries increased by 1.1 per cent and to non-EU countries by 7.7 per cent. The volume of exports to EU member states increased by 1.6 per cent, but the volume of exports to non-EU countries decreased by 0.9 per cent calculated according to a 12-month moving average.
Value of imports from EU countries decreased by 0.4 per cent and from non-EU countries by 1.8 per cent in October. The volume of imports from EU member states decreased by 1.2 per cent, but increased from non-EU countries by 6.5 per cent.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, value of imports from EU member states increased by 0.5 per cent, but declined from other countries by 0.9 per cent. The volume of imports from EU member states increased by 0.3 per cent and from non-EU countries by 2.3 per cent calculated according to a 12-month moving average.
In this publication preliminary statistics under table 6 are listed export and import values and percentage change by country. The values in the table are preliminary and significant changes are possible when data becomes more complete.
