Exports decreased by 3.5 per cent in November
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports decreased by 3.5 per cent, while the value of imports declined by 2.2 per cent in November year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in November was EUR 4.9 billion and the value of imports slightly over EUR 5.1 billion. In January-November, the total value of exports decreased by 13.7 per cent and the value of imports by 10.4 per cent year-on-year.
The trade balance was EUR 180 million in deficit in November. In January-November, the trade balance ran a deficit of EUR 3.1 billion. In November 2019, the trade balance was EUR 114 million in deficit, and in January-November it was EUR 1.2 billion in deficit.
Exports to EU member states remained at the level of the previous year while exports to non-EU countries decreased by 7.7 per cent in November. Imports from EU countries increase by 0.2 per cent, but imports from non-EU countries decreased by 5.5 per cent in November. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries decreased by 12.4 per cent and to non-EU countries by 15.4 per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states fell by 8.5 per cent and from other countries by 13.0 per cent.
The monthly preliminary statistics release contains preliminary overall figures about Finland's international trade in goods. More precise figures of exports and imports as well as detailed statistics about specific countries and goods will be published at the end of the month in the monthly statistical release.
