Exports increased by 32.2 per cent in September
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by 32.2 per cent, and the value of imports by 19.4 per cent in September year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in September was EUR 6.5 billion and the value of imports EUR 6.4 billion. During the reference month in 2020 exports decreased by 7.0 per cent and imports by 3.1 per cent.
In January-September 2021, the total value of exports increased by 17.8 per cent and the value of imports by 16.0 per cent year-on-year.
The trade balance was EUR 100 million in surplus in September. In January-September, the aggregated trade balance ran a deficit of EUR 2.7 billion. In September 2020, the trade balance was EUR 445 million in deficit, and in January-September it was EUR 3.0 billion in deficit.
Exports to EU member states increased by 37.8 per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 25.0 per cent in September. Imports from EU countries increased by 12.3 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 30.4 per cent. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 18.3 per cent and to non-EU countries by 17.1 per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 15.7 per cent and from other countries by 16.4 per cent.
